The series of concerts celebrating Friedrich Cerha's 95th birthday culminated in August 2021: the monumental Spiegel cycle was performed at the Salzburg Festival by the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra under Ingo Metzmacher. We celebrated the anniversary with a collection of portrait articles, current links, and his video interview for the Stadtjournal wien.at.

The Spiegel cycle is one of Friedrich Cerha's major works. On the occasion of the Spiegel CD recording by the Kairos label in 2011, composers from different generations expressed their enthusiasm for the work. Read articles by Pierre Boulez, Helmut Lachenmann, and Rebecca Saunders, among others.

The performance at the Salzburg Festival followed a series of concerts celebrating the anniversary: the concert, Friedrich Cerha's 95th Birthday, with the Klangforum Wien and the Boulanger Trio, among others, which was postponed from February 17 to early summer, took place on June 21st at the Musikverein Vienna. Already on June 10th, the concert for violin and orchestra appeared on the program, interpreted by the Vienna RSO under Gábor Káli and Carolin Widmann on the violin.

Three world premieres were on the programme of the ORF concert at the Radiokulturhaus in March: in concert with the Webern Kammerphilharmonie, under Ernst Covacic, the concert for string orchestra and music for trombone and strings were performed, as well as the inaugural performance of Otto foglie per trombone solo, the toccata for organ, and the vocalise for soprano and three clarinets.
